The 2015 Tour season will get underway in late January/early February, with tournaments in Panama City, Panama and Bogotá, Colombia

PLAYER OF THE YEAR HEADS TO MALAYSIA – Tour 2014 Player of the Year Carlos Ortiz is among this week’s sponsor exemptions at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia, which features leading players from the PGA TOUR and Asian Tour. The Guadalajara, Mexico native is currently No. 133 in the Official World Golf Ranking and the top-ranked Mexican, making him the leading contender to represent his country in the 2016 Olympic Games.

“STREBBER” NOTCHES FIRST WIN / NO. 393 – Robert Streb’s first win at the McGladrey Classic on Sunday was the 393rd Tour alumni victory on the PGA TOUR. The Oklahoma native won the 2012 Mylan Classsic on the Tour en route to finishing seventh on the money list that year which secured his TOUR card.

FULL FIELD – The Tour had an incredible presence in the McGladrey Classic field….only two of the top-40 finishers (Carl Pettersson, Cameron Tringale) did not have Tour roots, and just 9 of the 71 who played all four rounds.

FIRST STAGE COMPLETED – Last week’s medalists at the Tour Qualifying Tournament First Stage events were Jeff Corr (Apopka, Fla.) in St. Augustine, Fla., Smylie Kaufman (Birmingham, Ala.) in Pinehurst, N.C. and Danny Balin (Rockville, Md.) in Beaumont, Calif. These were the last three of 13 First Stage events held in October, with 389 players advancing. Six Second Stage events will be held in November and include the 389 qualifiers from First Stage, plus 80 others who are exempt. The Finals will be held Dec. 11-16 at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., where approximately 150 players will vie for positioning on the Tour in 2015.
