Stirling University Golf Team win 2014 Irish Colleges Invitational Tournament

The University of Stirling Golf Team romped to a comfortable win in the 2014 Irish Colleges Invitational Tournament at County Louth Golf Club.

The Stirling Golf Team recorded an 18-shot victory in the team event thanks in no small part to a magnificent performance by Swiss player Matthias Eggenberger.

Eggenberger, a member of the Swiss team at the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy in Japan, carded a final round 71 to add to his opening pair of 70s, comfortably taking the individual honours.

Maynooth University took the other two podium spots on 13 over – their B team edging the A team to second place thanks to a countback of the discarded third round card.

Queens University’s Jessica Ross took the Ladies individual honours.

Waterford IT finished a creditable fourth, ahead of UCD (A), Ulster (B) and Stirling (B).
