Fifteen years after his death, Payne Stewart is still fondly remembered as having a passion for golf and life and having one of the most colorful personalities on the PGA TOUR. (pictured:  Hal Sutton, Tom Lehman, Jay Haas and Kenny Perry)

At home, he was a devoted husband and father. On the golf course, he was one of the most competitive and successful players of his era, winning 11 times on the PGA TOUR, including 3 major championships, and posthumously being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

PGA TOUR 2014: The Legacy of Payne presented by Southern Companyairing Saturday, September 6 at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC, will examine Stewart’s legacy, which went well beyond his success as a professional golfer. Stewart also was recognized for acting with integrity, compassion and honor, traits that are honored to this day through the PGA TOUR’s annual Payne Stewart Award presented by Southern Company.

The half-hour program, produced in high definition by PGA TOUR Entertainment, showcases past Payne Stewart Award winners Tom Lehman, Hal Sutton, Jay Haas, and Kenny Perry, as they share stories of Payne, his life, and how he continues to influence their lives today.  It also looks at the charitable impact made in his memory through the Award.

PGA TOUR 2014: The Legacy of Payne presented by Southern Company precedes NBC’s third round coverage of the BMW Championship, the third of four FedExCup Playoff events.
