History is perhaps against 2014 U.S. Open Golf first round leader, Martin Kaymer of Germany, who recently won THE PLAYERS championship on the PGA Tour.

No golfer has won THE PLAYERS and U.S. Open in the same season, but the U.S. Open has in more recent years had the habit of delivering many breakthroughs and surprises, such as last year’s first time winner, Justin Rose from England.

In fact, no PLAYERS champion has ever finished in the top five of the U.S. Open in the same year.

Since Kaymer won a month ago at TPC Sawgrass, his golf odds coming to Pinehurst Resort and Country Club weren’t favourable.
Kaymer’s golf odds, however, greatly improved Thursday after the opening day’s play at the 2014 U.S. Open Golf Championship at Pinehurst Course number two.
