Emily Pedersen from Copenhagen, Denmark, has won the 2014 British Women’s Open Amateur Golf Championship.
The Great Dane defeated Belgium’s Leslie Cloots by 3 and 1 in the final at Royal St George’s Golf Club, Sandwich, Kent.
Cloots, built up an early lead by winning the first and fifth holes, with the Danish golfer hitting back to take the fourth and sixth holes.
The match was even at the turn and Pedersen moved into the lead with birdies at the 10th and 12th holes, with her opponent winning the 14th hole with a sub par figure.
The former junior Solheim Cup and Vagliano Trophy player pitched in for an eagle three at the 15th hole and closed the game out with a conceded hole at the 17th.
In addition to the aforementioned achievements, Emily, now adds the British Women’s Amateur Golf Championship to the 2013 European Women’s Individual Amateur Championship.
Pedersen, is also a former winner of the Spanish women’s amateur international title and is ranked No 26 in the Women’s world amateur golf ranking. This victory should see the Danish golfer move into the top-10.
With this win, Emily has also earned a spot in the 2014 Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Lancashire from July 10 to 13.
