WITHDRAWAL: Chris Houston, Gilford, N.H.

CHRIS HOUSTON of Gilford, N.H., has withdrawn from the 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club, in Johns Creek, Ga., due to a back injury.

Houston, 20, withdrew prior to today’s second round of stroke play. He was scheduled to play with Victor Perez and Alex Franklin at 9:40 a.m. from the 10th tee at the Highlands Course.  Houston shot 5-over-par 77 at the Riverside Course in Monday’s first round.

Houston, a member of the Penn State University team, was competing in his first U.S. Amateur Championship. He shared medalist honors with 36-hole total of 147 at the Bernardston, Mass., sectional qualifier.
