PGA TOUR 2014: The Life presented by Visionworks airs Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. ET
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (June 23, 2014) – Golf isn’t a sport of perfection, but rather one of constant tweaking and improvement. Although professional golf is an individual endeavor, success is often attributed to a player’s own “team” … that inner circle, the sacred trust, the men and women charged with the visualization and execution of the player’s goals.
PGA TOUR 2014: The Life presented by Visionworks, a one-hour CBS Sports special airing Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. ET, will examine various components of this support group for individual PGA TOUR players and the impact that they have had.
Produced by PGA TOUR Entertainment, the show will highlight:
ZACH JOHNSON – Johnson’s level of success has a great deal to do with a summit that he has with his team each offseason. For several days, all members of his “team” meet to look back on the season and prepare for the future. This feature will highlight members of that team, outline their roles, and showcase their relationship to Zach.
JIM FURYK – Most professional golfers on the PGA TOUR have a swing coach. Furyk has been with his coach since birth. Mike Furyk, Jim’s father, has been a part of Jim’s golfing career from the beginning and still coaches him today. This feature will look at not only their relationship as coach and player, but as father and son.
HENRIK STENSON – Stenson ended last season on a historic run as FedExCup champion. Just a few years ago he was a cautionary tale in the golfing world. Having overcome two major slumps in which he went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, we delve into how he persevered with the help of those closest to him.
THE CADDIE – This takes an in-depth look at the relationship between several players and their caddies and how they prepare for a round of golf at any given tournament.
ERIN WALKER – It is said that behind every successful man is a good woman and Erin Walker is just that for her husband Jimmy Walker. Walker has gone from PGA TOUR journeyman to the top of the FedExCup standings. This feature will look at his wife, how she has helped him balance this new found stardom, and how she is his support at any given tournament.
MENTAL COACH – Golf is a visual game and many players have enlisted the help of mental coaches to help them stay focused on the task at hand. Get an inside look at how this process takes place with Dr. Gio Valiante.
