How to get to Hunley Hotel and Golf Club

From the North – Leave the A1(M) at junction 60, take the A689 towards the A19. Take the A19 southbound and leave on the A174 towards Redcar and Saltburn. Continue to follow signs for Saltburn. Enter the town of Saltburn and continue to the sea front and onwards towards Brotton. Once entering Brotton turn third left into St Margarets Way, where you will see a brown street sign for Hunley Hall Golf Club.

From the South – A1(M) Junction 49 take the A168 towards the A19 northbound. Leave the A19 at the junction signposted A174 towards Redcar and Saltburn. Continue to follow the signs for Saltburn. Enter the town of Saltburn and continue to the sea front and onwards towards Brotton. Once entering Brotton turn third left into St Margarets Way, where you will see a brown street sign for Hunley Hall Golf Club.

Things to Do/ Places to See in Saltburn, Redcar and Cleveland

Of course Hunley is justifiably renowned for its championship golfing facilities, but also a mecca for walkers, surfers and lovers of the great outdoors, bordering both the North Yorkshire Moors and the heritage coastline of the Cleveland Way.

Well located for a traditional bucket-and-spade holiday, too, as the fabulous beaches and traditional charm of seaside towns such as Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Runswick Bay and Sandsend are on the doorstep.

Playing Golf in North Yorkshire

There are some great venues in the Yorkshire region as well as some lesser-known courses. some ‘hidden gems’. One of the best examples is the Donald Steel-designed layout three miles north of Howden, Boothferry Park. Steel’s meadowland course is a great test for any level of player as many of the holes involve playing over water, or natural dykes.

Harrogate is a golf club is fairly flat but incorporates plenty of well placed bunkers, and, although not overly long, can put good golfers in trouble easily. Huddersfield is another of the clubs in the north and boasts a quite a history. In 1906 Harry Vardon, JH Taylor and James Braid competed in an exhibition match to the locals. Another exhibition match took place in 1969 involving Peter Oosterhuis and Gary Player.

Ganton was the star of the show at the 2003 walker Cup, with players on both sides of the Atlantic commenting on how the course made the contest a truly great event. It’s a links course of the highest quality and should be treated with great respect.
