Scottish Golf International and former NCAA Collegiate golfer, Scott Gibson of Southerness Golf Club, leads the 2014 Sutherland Chalice Golf Tournament after 36 holes at Dumfries & Galloway Golf Club.

Gibson, leads this World Amateur Golf Ranking and 2014 Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit event by the comfortable margin after firing rounds of -4, 66, and -5, 64, for an aggregate score of -10, 130.

This 36 holes aggregate is three strokes off the halfway-cut mark record of Graham J Gordon from Newmachar Golf Club who fired rounds of 65 and 62 when successfully defending his title many years ago.

Such was the quality of Gibson’s scoring, the Southerness Golf Club member heads into tomorrow’s final 36 holes with a of five shots advantage from fellow-Scottish Amateur Golf International, Adam Dunton from Ellon Golf Club.

Dunton, carded rounds of -2, 68, and -3, 67, for a total score of -5, 135, to be two shots ahead of Michael Smyth from Royal Troon (68, 69 -3, 137) and another Scottish Amateur Golf International, Daniel Young of Craigie Hill Golf Club (67, 70, -3, 137).

2014 Scottish Champion of Champion winner, Scott Borrowman from Dollar Golf Club, is next best placed on -2, 138, after rounds of 71 and 67.

The highly rated Greig Marchbank from Thornhill is on -1, 139, and 2014 Battle Trophy winner Nick McAndrew of Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, who led after 36 holes at the 2014 Cameron Corbett Vase at Haggs Castle Golf Club, is also on this mark.

Defending champion, Mathew Clark from Kilmalcolm Golf Club has work to do to successfully defend his title. The Scottish Amateur Golf International posted rounds of 68 and 73 for +1, 141.
