Former Scottish Amateur Golf International Conor O’Neil of Pollok, now representing Mearns Castle Golf Academy, carded the best score by a Scottish player in the 2014 Open championship regional qualifying round at Bruntsfield Links, Edinburgh.

O’Neil, fired a four-under-par 67 to finish second, four strokes behind Norwegian Kristian Johannessen.

Johannessen, carded a round of -8, 63, to lead the eight qualifiers for the Open Final Qualifying by four shots.
